Amongst the rainbow Target tattoos, Log Cabin Republican booths, and overpriced corndogs of Pride Weekend, queerz and trans folks got together and took it to the streets. Yes, the third annual Trans March was a success. It began at Mueller Park where fabulously dressed folks congregated near the corner of 25th and Bryant to disrupt the homonormativity, assimilation, militarism, trans exclusion, racism, classism, elitism, and forgotten hirstory of Pride activities. To add to the dancing, chanting, and glitter, this year’s march also had a funkmobile (also known as the queer anarchy machine) that pumped out the jams from Mueller Park into Loring Park.
The march left from Mueller Park and headed down Lyndale causing traffic to stop and jaws to drop as the hottest trannies and queerz in the area passed by. These folks first took it to the streets and then danced right into Loring Park, funkmobile leading the way. When security saw a large amount of glitter and bikes, they quickly called the police to settle the fears of the assimilationists.
But the trannies knew their rights and didn’t talk to the police which resulted in no arrests and no assaults.
“Assimilation never! Liberation forever!”
Glitter melts fascist faces!
